What is this, and why doesn’t every do it? Beats me. The first time I discovered the power of include files, I wished I’d learned about it years earlier. Here I was trying to redo a menu bar on 400 pages of content. At that time, I wasn’t using Dreamweaver to design my pages, and I didn’t know a thing about site templates.

I had ot load all these pages in NoteTab Pro, and then do a global search and replace to get the new menu bar. Now that would be fine, if the menu bar was identical on all pages. Since the pages had been created over a number of years, there were slight discrepancies. So, I had to repeat this process over and over until it was done. Then I had to upload all the pages.

If I had used include files, changing the menu bar would be as simple as changing one file and uploading. When I discovered that, I was happy that it would save me so much time, but ticked off that I had wasted so much time by not using them.
