This article is going to show you a simple way to create search engine friendly urls. It will also show you how to create urls that can boost your Google Page Rank. Best of all it requires no programming skills. The first thing you need to do is open your .htaccess in your text editing program.

Scenario One:

Chances are, if you’ve ever posted to a forum, that you’ve posted a link to a useful product that has nothing to do with you. You think people could benefit so you post the url. That’s fine, you’ve helped others. How would you like to be able to also increase your Google Pagerank at the same time?

Instead of posting a direct link to the url, you could post a link like this:

http://www.yourdomain.com/1

Now, you could do the same thing by creating a new page, or by using tracking system. But what if you need something that’s quick and easy?

By adding this line to your .htaccess file:

Redirect /1 http://www.example.com/?url1

You can now use this link: http://www.yourdomain.com/1

to redirect to: http://www.example.com/?u

Now you have links from other sites that have links to your site. At this time, if you have links from sites that have high Google Page Rank, you *may* find your Page Rank increasing. Another reason to use this method, is that if you monitor your access logs, you’ll get a feel for which posts are popular.
